Chase McDonald has partnered with Cody Knox for Home Runs That Help |
| When we first received this notice several months ago, we immediately started making phone calls. Unfortunately, it was at the same time the H1N1 flu was in high gear. Gaining access to the childrens ward of the hospital was virtually impossible. At that time (and up until recently) they were only letting immediate family in, that after a lot of screening.
We had to drop back and punt, so we went to the local Challenger League and Chase was matched up with a Down’s Syndrome child, Cody Knox, who plays in that baseball league. This kid loves the game of baseball. We have met with Cody several times already and done some hitting and fielding (as well as basketball). This young man faces challenges every day we cannot begin to imagine. There is no “cure” for what he was born with. This has had a positive impact on both Chase and Cody. We are meeting again for some BP. Chase is hanging out with Cody at least twice a week, hitting, throwing and playing basketball. Chase hit a total of 6 Home Runs at the 4th Annual POWER SHOWCASE.
